FROM SILENCE INTO SONG
This extraordinary project began with recordings made from sensors attached to trees that survived the atomic bombs of Hiroshima & Nagasaki. It has now extended into tapping into the ‘Wood Wide Web’, a vast, interconnected network of organisms that enables species to convey stress and share support.
In this audio-visual performance the team brings these soundscapes from nature to members of a choir of cancer survivors who have learned to sing after the removal of their voice boxes; breaking their silence and uniting their voices into songs of hope.
Musical content is by Reeps One & Teddy Riley and visuals & sound-design by Philip Clemo.
Followed by an interdisciplinary panel and Q&A.
Masterclass:
Following the performance there will be a masterclass by composer, sound-designer and film-maker Philip Clemo, director of content of From Silence into Song. Philip will illustrate how this ground-breaking project has developed and talk about the cutting-edge technology and methods that the team has used to capture subtle recordings and extraordinary imagery from the natural world.
